S+G Help to Densify Post-war University Campus
Since 2014 S+G has advised the DTU campus services leadership to improve conditions for walking and bicycling on Denmark’s largest university campus, currently undergoing a 4-billion Kroner construction program with more than 20 live building projects. Our work with sustainable transportation includes advising on the design and construction of a new light rail tram system providing for three tram stops on a transforming network of campus streets.
In 2017 S+G were appointed to draft the new “DTU Campus Plan 2029”. This plan creates the planning framework that will support legal changes the municipal land-use plans and provide the feasibility testing and design vision for a quadrupling of the total built area on this growing post-war campus outside Copenhagen.
The services performed by S+G include the leadership of an inter-disciplinary team involving other Danish architects and landscape architects who will together test the impact of proposed development in the context of specific development parcels under development parameters established by S+G.
S+G are also drawing plans for all the refurbishment of streets on campus to help the university to transition from a car-based university campus to a more sustainable multi-modal mobility culture.
