S+G CONCEIVES NEW SWEDISH HIGH STREET
Dekanen is a new neighbourhood located on top of one of the biggest train stations in the Oresund Region. Triangeln Station was completed in 2010 and has a daily commute of 37.000 people travelling through the region and across Øresund with direct connection to international destinations. This makes it one of the Region’s most important transportation hubs.
S+G was invited to develop a design vision for a new sustainable neighbourhood in Malmö on top of the station. The task was to establish coherence between the new development and the existing urban fabric, to build on existing features, and to offer new retail and public realm facilities for the neighbourhood. The design vision effectively transforms a previously detached urban area to an integrated part of Malmö City Centre.
The design vision integrates Malmö’s existing green qualities, well-functioning urban infrastructure, and an increasingly diverse population. Different types of housing support this diverse city, and sustainable transport solutions enhance global connections.
