S+G is City of Copenhagen's Knowledge Hub
The City of Copenhagen selected Schulze+Grassov to develop new criteria for the assessment and programming of public spaces. Technical staff at the municipality use the parameters to analyse sites and help draft terms of reference for requests for proposals on projects involving work to public streets and open space. The parameters are also being used by municipal staff employed on neighbourhood renewal initiatives where they use them as communication tools when speaking to citizens as a part of the citizen participation processes.
The practice has delivered a toolbox that establishes a shared vocabulary of terms and parameters for public space design to enable the municipality to maintain the consistently high level of quality in the procurement of public spaces throughout the city. The work has been used to facilitate a capacity building programme for project managers from different municipal agencies that are currently undergoing restructuring and changes to municipal working processes.
