S+G Design Bridge over Forest Park Parkway

Driving Discovery is an ambitious multiphase project in Arts & Sciences that will create new research and teaching facilities for the sciences. A phased, incremental plan by lead designer Ayers Saint Gross will repurpose older buildings starting with Bryan Hall, which will become the new face of the Department of Chemistry.

S+G has worked in collaboration with Ayers Saint Gross to lead on the design of mobility infrastructure that connects the Department of Chemistry to new on-campus bicycle paths and parking facilities, implemented to design by S+G. Design work included schematic and detail design services for a major new bicycle bridge spanning the St. Louis Metro and 4 lanes of traffic on Forest Park Parkway. New bicycle friendly stairs and ramps have been completed, all together increasing bicycle ridership to campus and improving access for sustainable transportation modes.

Bryan Hall’s north-facing façade has been updated and the new mobility infrastructure successfully connects the core of the Danforth Campus to the Parkview and Loop neighborhoods.
